Clay Pet Paw Impression Moulding Kit

Make a paw print keepsake while your pet is relaxed. Make sure the air-dry clay is cool, and your pet's paw is clean and dry. Knead the clay to soften it, roll it out to at least 1cm, press the paw in firmly and lift. Leave the impression to dry for 24 hours, turning it over at the 12 hour mark. For best results, leave it for around 7 days.

Each impression kit includes:

• 100g of white air-dry lightweight clay in a resealable bag
• A hole piercing tool
• Ribbon for hanging

There is enough clay for 1 to 2 average paw-sized impressions.

Important: the clay must be cool, not warm, before you use it.

What you end up with

A raised print of the actual paw, at actual size. It hangs on a tree at Christmas, or sits in a drawer and turns up again in ten years when you are looking for something else entirely. That is rather the point of it.

How long does it take to dry?
Give it 24 hours before handling, turning it at the halfway point so both sides dry evenly. Leave it a full week before you hang it or give it away. Rushing this is the one thing that spoils a good impression.

How many prints can I take?
There is enough clay for one to two average paw-sized impressions, so you get a second attempt if the first one moves. Knead the clay back together and start again.

Why does the clay need to be cool?
Warm clay is too soft and will not hold a clean edge. If it has been somewhere warm, leave it to settle before you start.

Will it work on a wriggly puppy?
Yes, with one firm press rather than a long hold. Have the clay rolled out and ready before you go anywhere near the paw, and wait until they are sleepy rather than mid-zoomies.

Can I paint it afterwards?
Once it is fully dry, yes. Many people leave it plain white and simply thread the ribbon through the hole.
